gauravaṃ prāpyate dānāt na tu vittasya sañcayāt |
sthitiḥ uccaiḥ payodānāṃ payodhīnām adhaḥ sthitiḥ ||
Fame is obtained by donating (giving) money, not collecting it. Clouds (givers of water) have a high position whereas the seas (reservoirs of water) have a low position.
