Applications are invited from Teachers, Research Scholars and Students for participating in 2 weeks Workshop on Indian Logic and Epistemology Foundation Level (Tarkasaṁgraha of Annaṁbhaṭṭa) to be conducted in Karnataka Samskrit University from 13th – 25th April 2015, under the course directorship of Professor V.N.Jha.
Tarkasaṁgraha of Annaṁbhaṭṭa is the fundamental text of the classical Indian intellectual, analytical and philosophical traditions. On one hand it presents linguistic modeling of the Universe and on the other hand it imparts training in cognitive analysis, research methodology, logic and epistemology. Although, it is an introductory manual to introduce an inquisitive reader into the utter realism of the Nyāya-vaiśeṣika system of Indian Philosophy, it provides thorough training in the analysis of human thought through analyzing natural language. It prepares a scholar to participate into any philosophical system. For this reason, in India Tarkasaṁgraha is taught as a compulsory text for any discipline of Indian philosophical systems. It enjoyed such popularity that it has a large number of commentaries on it and newer and newer commentaries are being written on it even today.
The basic philosophical assumption of the text is this that the world of our experience is real, it can be known and it can be expressed through language. What language refers to is real. It is not the case, the text believes, that the Reality is beyond language and mind as advocated by the Indian Idealists. The text is written in a very simple but profound style. All relevant concepts have been remarkably analyzed and defined. It also provides training in Navya-Nyāya language and methodology.

Registration Details
Registration fees for Students and Research scholars: Rs1000; Faculty Members: Rs3000; Foreign National: $80. Registration fee should be drawn in favour of Finance Officer, Karnataka Samskrit University, Bangalore.
N.B: No TA/DA will be provided to the participants.
No food and Accommodation will be provided, but we will help to you to find out cheap accommodation near to the venue.

Resource Person
Prof. V. N. Jha is an eminent scholar and a specialist of various branches of Samskrit learning. All along his life he has been trying to promote Samskrit studies through multi-disciplinary approaches in order to make such studies relevant to contemporary world and knowledge domains. He has visited several countries as visiting Professor and has delivered lectures. He has created new courses of study in Samskrit. He has contributed over 45 books and over 100 articles. Over 35 students have received PhD degree under his supervision. He is member of many national and international academic bodies and institutions. He has been honoured by several academic institutions. He has a long administrative experience of 20 years as the Director, Centre of Advanced Study in Sanskrit, University of Pune. He was also the founding Chairman of the Special Centre for Sanskrit Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
